We understand that you may be feeling worried and vulnerable.
Our trained team of sexual health professionals will do everything we can to help, offering advice, support and fast access to testing. We can also refer you to other experts, if we need to.
Many people feel embarrassed about coming to a sexual health clinic, but there’s no need to be.
All the staff at The Ambrose King Sexual Health Centre are professionally trained. We are non-judgmental, respect your privacy and dignity, and fully understand that you may be feeling uncomfortable. We always do everything we can to put you at ease.
So come and talk to us, in confidence. We look forward to meeting you.
The staff you’re likely to meet at the centre include:
Doctor
Our team of doctors is a combination of doctors who are training in sexual health, and consultants who are fully qualified experts in sexual health. You may see a doctor if you have symptoms, a recurring problem, or any other issues which may need a medical opinion.

Nurse
We have a great team of nurses in our clinics who are experienced in managing sexual health issues. You might see a consultant nurse or nurse practitioner who will take your history, perform any necessary examination and prescribe treatment in a similar way to one of our doctors. Other members of the nursing team are in charge of making sure the clinic runs smoothly, but also see patients independently, take tests, process samples and give treatment.

Sexual health advisor
Our sexual health advisors are experts in supporting patients who have been diagnosed with, or have worries about, sexually transmitted infections. They are also there to help you tell your partner(s) if they have been in contact with an STI and need testing and treatment.

Sexual health technician
Our sexual health technicians help to support the nurse practitioners and doctors in examining patients, taking blood samples and processing tests including looking under the microscope. They also see patients without symptoms and organise self-taken swabs and blood tests.
Receptionist
Our team of receptionists are there to greet you, offer you information and make sure you get seen at the appropriate time. They will register you and make up notes for the rest of the team so we can record your visit.
All of our staff operate to a strict code of confidentiality.
