We provide specialist services for men and women who work in the sex industry. Women and men working in the sex and adult entertainment industry are welcome in all of our general clinics.
We also have a clinic especially for women in the sex industry at Ambrose King Centre called Open Doors. Open Doors is run by a senior nurse who heads a small and friendly team who are experienced in working with women in all areas of the sex and adult entertainment industry. Open Doors is completely free and confidential to all women in the sex industry, regardless of nationality. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a valid visa or a GP.
What services does Open Doors provide?
• sexual health advice
• advice on safety at work
• emergency contraception
• testing & treatment for sexually transmitted infections
• full range of contraception including injections, pills, patches, coils and implants
• cervical smears
• HIV testing
• hepatitis B vaccination
• free condoms, lube, sponges and dams.
• access to other support services including sexual health psychology service.
• Ugly Mugs information. Ugly Mugs is a scheme for sex workers to confidentially report clients who are involved in violent or threatening incidents to projects which specifically work with sex workers. The project can then alert other sex workers to potential attackers.

What happens when I arrive?
Please check-in with reception on the ground floor at the Ambrose King Centre and say you have an appointment with Open Doors.
If it is your first visit you will be asked to fill in a form with your name, date of birth and contact details of your choice.
We do not require your GP contact details – and we will not share your information with anyone else.
You will be asked to take a seat on the first floor until you are called for your appointment.
We aim to see women as close as possible to their appointment time. If you are having a full sexual health check up, please allow one to two hours for your visit.
